Denon DVD-2500BTCI Blu-ray/DVD/CD Player Price

When first introduced, MSRP for the DVD-2500BTCI was k. I liked it and would have paid that much for it eventually. But when it went on sale for 0, I just couldn’t resist. Assuming Denon hasn’t substituted cheaper parts somewhere along the way, the current sale prices of under 0 are almost like legalized shoplifting. This is my first Blu-Ray player so I don’t have another to compare it to. But both picture and sound are outstanding. As long as you only need an HDMI output, and are patient at least in some regards, I can’t recommend this unit enough. Observed Strengths & Weaknesses below.

STRENGTHS:

With just about every receiver, pre/pro, etc., out there already having an array of surround decoders, D/A converters, etc., I found it annoying that these were duplicated and charged for in just about all DVD/Blu-Ray players. Not so in the DVD-2500BTCI, which is why it is called a “transport” instead of a “player.” You’re only paying for what you need…no useless stuff that’s duplicated elsewhere in a typical system.

Denon DBP2010 Blu-ray/DVD/CD Player (Black) Price

UPDATE AS OF 11/25/09: I have experienced the random FREEZES that others have reported to plague this player. The player will freeze and then resume after 5-6 seconds. Very annoying.

UPDATE AS OF 8/18/09: This player is definitely growing on me. The Audio Quality from the Burr Browns is nothing short of top-notch. Powered off Eject times dropped by nearly 5 seconds to a reasonable 13 seconds w/ FW update done easily over net. My recommendation is to use NR setting of 3 for DVDs (it is not available on BDs thankfully). I would say DVD upconversion is identical to the Oppo 99% of the time in realworld use with a reasonable sized display – 50″ in my case. YMMV. Really like this player, but I stand by my comments re pricing – needs to be 0 at a maximum to compete.

Denon DVD-1800BD Blu-Ray/CD Player Price

I have owned this player for sometime now and I am so impressed with the picture everytime I watch a new Blu Ray through it. I have owned several different players now (LG, Samsung, Panasonic), but none have wow’d me the way this players picture has. Ofcoarse with Blu Ray your are deeling with a far superior picture to DVD to begin with, but my experience with the players that I have owned has never been quit what this player is able to produce. The closest example I would have would be the BH200, an LG Combo (HD DVD and Blu Ray# player that had an original price tag of 00 when it was first introduced. The LG however does not offer Bitstreem capability for Dolby Tru HD and DTS Lostless, even though there has been updates for the player that claim so. The Denon does have this capability, and above all, it’s picture can’t be beat. If you are looking for a player that has all the latest features #i.e. Netflix, Pandora, BD Live# this is not the player for you. I have what I need of those features currently through my xBox 360, so I was truely just looking for a great standalone BD player. So, if you just need a player to play Blu Ray’s great, with a picture that is far supperior to the competetion and can handle the patience required for load times #they are slow, this is the only draw back to the player#, I highly recommend giving this player a look.
