Philips BDP5012/F7 Blu-ray Disc Player Price

The video quality, audio quality, and menu navigation are excellent and can compete with the best of them (especially considering this is one of the last actual Philips products). The only real issue I have with this product is that the software/firmware support is horrible. I’ve reported several times and issue where if you are using a Philips HDTV and this player with the TV set to Unscaled video format, there is a green bar on the left and bottom borders of the screen (this is in both menus and movies). Their response is “they will look into it”, this was January ‘10, last firmware update was late ‘09.

Back to the product though. If you are looking for an inexpensive, high quality Blu-Ray player, you can’t go wrong with this player. If you don’t mind paying a little bit more and want actual software support, Samsung, Toshiba, or Sony may be the better way to go.

Samsung BD-P1500 – Blu-ray disc player – upscaling Price

Yes, if you research, you’ll find conflicting reviews, but this Refurbished Blu-ray player I purchased via TigerDirect from Amazon.com is absolutely amazing; in fact, the “upconverting” of regular wide screen DVDs brings new life to the films; the colors (on my plasma display) are superior to many *theater* experiences I’ve endured (of course the best quality is Blu-ray].

In this economic environment, I can recommend a refurbished product from Samsung via TigerDirect; you can download the manual and software from Samsung’s website. The product was shipped with a manual on CD, but I had already downloaded it before I received it.

One final note: I read elsewhere that a purchaser returned his Blu-ray player because “bands” were still visible on wide screen movies. Yes, this player doesn’t have a zoom function. However, the television should have (as my plasma does) functions to adjust “H Size”, “H Position”, and “V Position”, where H and V mean Horizontal and Vertical. With the resolution of Blu-ray, blowing up the image doesn’t really “degrade” the picture quality. So, check your television manual.

The LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player is currently one of the leading Blu-ray models in the market. It is enjoying raving reviews from users worldwide and is proving to be a strong rival for the popular Sony S350 and Sony S550 models.

The most obvious feature that I love about the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player is its new design. It is barely 2.5 inches thick and has a flat and glossy black front interface. As black goes with any color, I much prefer the LG player’s design to Sony’s models (which are in a strange metallic blue color).

The LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player’s audio and visual playback for Blu-ray discs is impressively crisp and clear. The start up time is fast and there are no signs of reduction in visual quality in high-speed visual sequences. DVD movies also play well on this LG movie player. The machine can up-convert DVD movies to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolutions. Like many players, the LG model has a 24 frames-per-second option to produce a more cinema-like quality.

Sony has once again stepped in to the spot light with the latest release of the BDP-N460 model. It is a Blu-ray disc DVD which allows the user to stream online in a number of movies, videos and audio with connections to content providers in the internet. The internet content providers covered by BDP-N460 may include Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Netflix, Slacker Radio and many others. As an addition to the functionality of BDP-N460, you can watch your DVDs in highly detailed presentations and crisp sounds made possible by the BDP-N460 upscaling quality.

The physical feature and slim design of this model is similar to Sony’s BDP-S360. The totality it is made up of dark plastic. Bdp-n460 is visible with a sleek appearance, but the disc tray cannot be seen and two buttons of the BDP-N460 is visible and raised on the far right portion. The frontal panel of BDP-N460 appears and flips down once you hit the eject button eventually revealing the disc tray. The unseen and hidden disc tray of the BDP-N460 makes the slim and less bulky look.
