Momitsu BDP-799 Blu-ray DVD Player Region Free Price

I got this Momitsu Blu-ray player solely because I need a Region A or multi-region player to watch locked Criterion Blu-ray discs in the U.K.. This player has the advantage over straight US Blu-ray players in that it doesn’t need a step-down converter (the current is a variable 110V to 240V): it only needs a travel adaptor to convert the 2-pin U.S. plug into a U.K. or Euro fitting.

First off, image-wise the 799 excels in providing a clear, superbly detailed picture. Of course, it helps that I’m watching fantastic Criterion Blu-ray transfers. But it is apparant that the Momitsu can handle motion exceptionally well, which is after all a stumbling block for many -more expensive, bigger-name- Blu-ray players.

The BD-C5500 is a new entry level Blu-ray Player from Samsung. It has a Price listing of under $180.00. But do not let this fool you in thinking this Blu-ray Player is in any way inferior or lacking some of the newest features. The BD-C550 provides online streaming services, wireless internet capability, internal memory and great video and audio.

As with all of Samsung’s 2010 Blu-ray players, the BD-C5500 meets all of the Energy Star 4.0 guidelines. It also has low power consumption – 13 watts during playback;.1 watts in standby. This low power consumption can not be found in the more expensive BD-C6500. The design of the Blu-ray Player also follows Samsung’s newer models, it has a slim down look (39mm) with a high tech glossy black finish. There is a drop down panel on the front concealing the disc loading tray.

Philips BDP5012/F7 Blu-ray Disc Player Price

The video quality, audio quality, and menu navigation are excellent and can compete with the best of them (especially considering this is one of the last actual Philips products). The only real issue I have with this product is that the software/firmware support is horrible. I’ve reported several times and issue where if you are using a Philips HDTV and this player with the TV set to Unscaled video format, there is a green bar on the left and bottom borders of the screen (this is in both menus and movies). Their response is “they will look into it”, this was January ‘10, last firmware update was late ‘09.

Back to the product though. If you are looking for an inexpensive, high quality Blu-Ray player, you can’t go wrong with this player. If you don’t mind paying a little bit more and want actual software support, Samsung, Toshiba, or Sony may be the better way to go.

Samsung BD-P1500 – Blu-ray disc player – upscaling Price

Yes, if you research, you’ll find conflicting reviews, but this Refurbished Blu-ray player I purchased via TigerDirect from Amazon.com is absolutely amazing; in fact, the “upconverting” of regular wide screen DVDs brings new life to the films; the colors (on my plasma display) are superior to many *theater* experiences I’ve endured (of course the best quality is Blu-ray].

In this economic environment, I can recommend a refurbished product from Samsung via TigerDirect; you can download the manual and software from Samsung’s website. The product was shipped with a manual on CD, but I had already downloaded it before I received it.

One final note: I read elsewhere that a purchaser returned his Blu-ray player because “bands” were still visible on wide screen movies. Yes, this player doesn’t have a zoom function. However, the television should have (as my plasma does) functions to adjust “H Size”, “H Position”, and “V Position”, where H and V mean Horizontal and Vertical. With the resolution of Blu-ray, blowing up the image doesn’t really “degrade” the picture quality. So, check your television manual.

The Polar RS200D heart rate monitor is a good example of an aerobic training tool that has features that can make a difference in the effectiveness of any exercise regimen. It is popular among elite athletes, as well as the proverbial “weekend warriors.”A brief overview of it’s many state of the art features will shed light on it’s growing popularity.

Many of the features included can be adjusted and calibrated toward individuals. Hence, by inputting appropriate data in to the RS200D, the results will be created for a specific individual.

For example, during an exercise session, five separate screens can be adjusted with three different lines of output. Information such as pace, lap time, heart rate, caloric expenditure, etc. are displayed on the screens. This is very valuable information to be aware of while exercising. Users can adjust the five screens to personal preferences.
